Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is Wisper Wireless Internet as reliable as Cable or DSL Internet?
A: Many people are under the impression that wireless is not reliable and have heard horror stories about wireless internet constantly going out. When done by professionals who understand and have over 100 years combined experience in the wireless technology such as Wisper has, wireless can be MORE reliable than Cable or DSL. Don't let others fool you, many other companies try to do wireless, and while nearly any one can install a few wireless links and connect customers to the Internet, do they really understand wireless? Does their network function 99.9% of the time such as Wisper?
Q: Why does my Internet seem slow?
A: Your Internet is only as fast as your slowest connection. The number one cause of Internet being slow is a computer that is not properly maintained. Computers that are infested with viruses, spyware, malware, or has not been taken in for a routine check up are the leading cause of your Internet being slow.
Q: Am I getting the speed I am paying for?
A: All of our Internet packages are "up-to" packages and are not "dedicated". While your Internet speed may fluctuate at times, you can be assured that your dedicated Wisper Team is working to deliver speeds to you that are as close to what you are paying for as possible. To test your speed, please click here.
Q: Why does my download progress bar indicate I am only downloading at 125 KBps when I am paying for 1 Mbps?
A: Don't worry, you are getting the speed you pay for. Many download progress bar's measure your download speed in Kilo Bytes or Mega Bytes. Your Internet connection speed is measured in Mega Bits. There are 8 bits in 1 byte; so if you do the math: 125KBps (Kilo Bytes per second) X 8 = 1,000 Kbps (Kilo bits per second) = 1 Mbps (Mega bit per second)
Q: Why do I need a router to access the internet through my laptop? I thought I had wireless internet.
A: A router is necessary to connect any wireless laptops or PCs. Our service is wireless from our tower to the radio that we install on your home. The router allows you to connect as many computers to our service as you would like.
